Walk Route Description

The tidal reaches and lagoons of the Wash along the West Norfolk Coast are one of the great places in Britain to see wild birds. Birdlife is dependent on season so prior to taking this walk it is suggested you do some research on the RSPB website where full details of what can be seen are provided.

The starting point is the car park (grid ref TF647334) near the beach at Shepherd's Port, which lies a short distance west of Snettisham village. From the car park return east along the road and walk south into the reserve to the various hides which are located at the southern end of the lagoons (or pits as they are described on the RSPB map). To add variety to the walk you can return along the beach.

Please Note Do be careful not disturb the birdlife. The beach area does have nesting birds in summer.
