This Somerset walk starts from the coast at Kilve Beach with its interesting geology and fossils before passing through Eastquantoxhead village to start the climb into the Quantock Hills. The route visits Beacon Hill and Bicknoller Post from where there are extensive views over the surrounding area. The walk then descends back to start.

Parking at Kilve Beach at the end of beach road from A39 - pay and display; free toilets.

From the car park take the coast path westward towards Eastquantoxhead. At Quantocks Head turn inland and follow lane into the village and then follow road past Court Farm to Higher Street.

Cross the A39 and take the footpath to the right of the cottages and follow the track until it opens out into meadowland. Walk straight over the field to the top end and through the gate into the woodland below Smiths Knap.

Cross the Green Track and the stream and follow the track up Smiths Combe and keep going to the summit of Beacon Hill (which is not marked on the map at the top of the Combe, but is clear on the ground). From the trig point on Beacon Hill follow the track south-east crossing the Great Road to Bicknoller Post.

From here retrace your steps towards The Great Road, but bear right after 50 yards and re-join The Great Road at the head of Gray's House Combe and then turn right following The Great Road past Longstone Hill on your right until you reach New Ground, then turn left and follow the track down Pardlestone Hill until you reach the houses at the top of Pardlestone Lane.

About 100 yards down Pardlestone Lane take the footpath on the left across the fields to the riding centre and then take the lane to the A39 at Winrush. Cross the A39 and then follow the footpath with the field boundary on your right over 3 fields until East Wood is reached. Carry on down the hill with the wood on your left to the bottom of the hill where the wood ends, and then turn right across the fields to Kobe Church and then turn left along the road back to the car park.
