This Lake District walk explores the Grizedale Forest which is situated three miles to the south of Hawkshead and is the largest forest in the National Park. The Visitor Centre is the usual starting point for the various waymarked trails in the forest and it is the white waymarked trail that leads to Grizedale Tarn, the only natural tarn in the forest. These forest trails should not simply be seen as a 'wet weather option' when the big hills are clouded out.
