Caption - The route of the old Roman Road across High Street follows the ridge. Taken shortly after leaving Thornthwaite Beacon, this picture shows the bulk of High Street to the right with the Straits of Riggindale leading onto High Raise. The rounded cone rising above Hayeswater is Rest Dodd.

Lake District

Walking in the Lake District National Park is amongst the best in the British Isles. The National Park is located wholly within Cumbria with Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick the main tourist towns.
