Ben Gorm

Ben Gorm glows golden in the final rays of sunset in this picture. Taken in May 1999 this view of Co. Mayo, Ireland is from the other side of Killary Fjord, an inlet running from the Atlantic in to the village of Leenane. The further peak, to the left, is Ben Creggan 693m. Walking and scenery are awe inspiring in this westerly place, with its sea-views, huge corries and U-shaped glacial valleys. To the south the classic Twelve Bens and the testing ridge of the Maamturks. To the west, left of the picture Mweelrea, 814m, fronts the coastline.
