Bouley Bay to Gorey Walk

This walk provides a superb excursion along the north-eastern coast of Jersey. There are some steep sections and good footwear is recommended. Average walkers will take between five and six hours to complete the route. For convenience the walk has been divided into four sections and these could be covered individually if you wished.

Bouley Bay to Rozel

The start is at Bouley Bay, which can be reached from St Helier by Bus Route 4, from where you follow the signs to the cliff path. This headland walk offers spectacular views of the north coast and the French mainland. You will pass L'Etacquerel Fort and Battery, built between 1786 and 1836, and the path ends at the headland known as White Rock. From here follow the road signs to Rozel Bay along La Rue du Càtel.

Rozel to St Catherine's

Follow the main road past the Bistro Frère and turn left down the path La Rue des Fontenelles through the wooded valley to the Dolmen du Couperon. Follow La Rue du Scez up a steep but short hill and turn left at the signpost to Fliquet. Walk along La Rue de la Perruque until you reach the telegraph tower. Here you can take the footpath or, at low tide, pick your way across the beach to St Catherine's where a walk to the end of the breakwater is not to be missed!

St Catherine's to Archirondel

Follow the footpath to St Catherine's Tower. Walk past the pond, turning right at the crossroads, and follow the track through the woods. Take the left hand fork of the path until it joins La Rue des Vaux de l'Eglise. Turn left at the main road (La Grande Route de Rozel). If you don't wish to visit the church, shop or pub in St Martin turn left at La Chasse Demoiselles Bandinel.

Follow this lane and rum left at La Rue de la Forge. This continues on La Rue des Charrières until it emerges once again at the tower. Walk along the sea wall to the red and white tower (built in 1793) at Archirondel.

Archirondel to Gorey

Make your way up the main road. Turn left and walk towards the hotel. Cross the road and follow La Rue des Puchots up to the top of the hill, where you turn left. Follow the road until you reach a small hamlet and take the second turning on the left, marked no entry for vehicles, or the footpath and steps to the right. Follow either of these routes until you reach Gorey from where Bus Route 1 takes you back St Helier.
